Questions

Which adapter should I buy?

A Bluetooth ELM327 adapter that uses classic Bluetooth (often sold as "Bluetooth 2.0" or "SPP"). LambdaOBD is tested with the KONNWEI KW901. Adapters that work only over Wi-Fi, or only over Bluetooth Low Energy, are not supported yet.

Why won't it connect?

Follow the app's connection steps: pair the adapter with your phone, plug it into the car and turn the key to ON. Some very cheap clone adapters do not work reliably.

Why is a value missing?

Each car reports only the values its engine computer supports. LambdaOBD shows what your car offers and never fills a gap with a guess.

What does a fault code mean?

Tap a code to see its meaning in plain words. Where the app has a guided diagnosis for it, it walks you through checks using your car's live data. A code points to a system, not always to a part.

Does clearing a code fix the fault?

No. Clearing turns the warning light off and erases the stored data for that fault. If the cause is still there, the code comes back. It also resets the readiness monitors, which some inspections check.

If it doesn't connect

  1. Turn the key to ON. The engine can stay off.
  2. Check that the adapter sits firmly in the OBD-II port, usually under the dashboard near the driver's knees.
  3. Make sure Bluetooth is on and LambdaOBD has the Nearby devices permission.
  4. Unplug the adapter for ten seconds, plug it back in and connect again.
  5. Still nothing? Write to us with the details below.
